Morrissey & Thompson-Ryan Interior Design is the dynamic collaboration of two experienced interior designers, Dee Morrissey and Jill Thompson-Ryan who specialize in interior design in Monmouth County, New Jersey, as well as Ocean, Morris, Essex, and Bergen County. In fact, Jill is one of New Jersey's first certified interior designers. Their complimentary skills, and their associations with the area's best architects, cabinet makers, lighting designers and interior-goods distributors, allows MTR to provide a broad range of residential home design for mid- to high end budgets. MTR Interiors is proud to serve all of New Jersey, New York City, Pennsylvania and Florida.
With more than 25 combined years of NJ interior design experience, the firm's partners are well-known for their creativity and style and, more importantly, their listening skills. All projects begin with an intensive interview to define a client's expectations, wishes and needs. This conversation continues throughout the process of creating a vision, budget concerns, and design phase schedule.
MTR Interiors succeeds at producing lasting design that enhances the client's enjoyment of their home. "Part of our mission is to give our clients distinctive rooms which stand the test of time," says Dee Morrissey. "I personally believe that if people invest wisely in quality furnishings for their homes, the design will hold up beautifully and never look dated. That to us is good design."
While it is most advantageous to work with a designer early on in the construction phase of commercial and residential interior design, MTR designers are experienced at total home renovations, house additions, and design of specialty rooms, such as modern kitchens, home theaters and home offices. The firm's New Jersey interior designers have expertise in using design to address allergies, physical disabilities, entertaining styles, traffic flow, storage, pets, playful children and so much more.
"We know how to use scale, color, texture, proportion, balance and harmony to create the home you've always wished for," says principal Jill Thompson-Ryan. "We will be your guiding hands, and help you make informed decisions."
Both principals are allied members of the American Society of Interior Design (ASID), and the NJ interior designers attend several international trade shows annually.
MTR Design also strives to be a good neighbor in their home community. Recently, the firm donated time and resources to design a suite, library and two bedrooms at the Ronald McDonald House in Long Branch, NJ. This project has received accolades from the Monmouth County New Jersey community.
Jill lives in Monmouth County with husband Vincent and young son Connor. She took her first mechanical drawing class at age 13. (Her father was a draftsman) She went on to earn a Bachelors of Fine Art in Interior Design and a Masters of Arts with a concentration in painting. She loves helping clients realize the home they've always wanted. Today Jill lives in a welcoming and friendly traditional Colonial house, designed for entertaining and creating happy memories.
Dee lives with husband David and their cat K.D. Utz in a country-French decorated home in Monmouth County. She has three grown children, Brian, Erin and Timothy. She left a career in banking at the urging of her family to share her decorating talent with others. She says she recalls first becoming interested in interior design as an 8-year old, when she would critically study floor plans in magazines. Dee has earned an Associates Degree in Interior Design and loves to help clients avoid mistakes and strengthen the value of their homes with a focused vision and great design.
Susan lives in Monmouth County with new husband Chris and their beagle, Daisy. After graduating from Rutgers, Susan embarked on a career in interior design. With several years of interior design experience, Susan has grown to be a respected designer with an exceptional portfolio. She loves to help clients create unique and comfortable living spaces.
